I went up on the mountain to give my horn a blow I thought I heard my true love say, "Yonder comes my beau" Crow, black chicken, crow for day Crow, black chicken, fly away Crow, black chicken, crow for day I love chicken pie Chicken crow for midnight, chicken crow for day When along comes an owl with a “Whoo-ha!” Scared that chicken away The hardest work I ever done was plough a field of rye The easiest work I ever done was eating chicken pie Chicken crow for midnight, chicken crow for day When along comes a Ford with a “Whoo-ha!” Scared that chicken away Wish I had a big frame house, fifteen stories high Every story in that house was filled with chicken pie Chicken crow for midnight, chicken crow for day When along comes a wolf with a “Whoo-ha!” Scared that chicken away

Happy Girl (free) 02:39
Flowers are blooming just for me Blue jays are crooning in the trees And I’m just singing happily All because you said that you love me The skies are clear and blue for me The grass is green everyplace I see Everyone smiles for I and thee All because you said that you love me So happy since you said that you’d be mine O Lady Luck is by my side And life is grand with you in my world Now I know I’ll die a happy girl Radio plays love songs for me People are laughing grand as can be The sun is shining over me All because you said that you love me The wind is whistling through the trees Everyone smiles so happily Church bells will ring for I and thee All because you said that you love me All because you said that you love me

Froggie went a courting and he did ride King kong kitchie kitchie ki me o with a sword and a pistol by his side King kong kitchie kitchie ki me o Ki-mo-ke-mo, ki-mo-ke Way down yonder in the hollow tree With the owl and the bat and the bumble bee King kong kitchie kitchie ki-me-o
Well he rode til he came to Miss Mousie’s door and there he knelt upon the floor He took Miss Mouse upon his knee and he said, “Little mouse, won’t you marry me?” Miss Mouse had suitors three or four and they burst on through that kitchen door They grabbed Mr. Frog and began to fight In the hollow tree it was a terrible night Mr. Frog brought the suitors to the floor and with the sword and the pistol he killed all four
Well they went to the parson the very next day and they left on their honeymoon right away Now they live far off in a hollow tree and they now have wealth and children three

O listen to that train coming down the line O trying to make up all of her lost time From Buffalo to Washington You can wash my jumper and starch my overalls O catch that train they call the Cannonball From Buffalo to Washington Well, my baby left me, she even took my shoes Enough to give a man these dog-gone worried blues I said she’s gone, she’s solid gone Yonder comes that train coming down the track O carry me away but it ain’t gonna carry me back My honey babe, my blue eyed babe Well, I’m going up north, I’m going up north this fall Lord, if my luck don’t change I won’t be back at all My honey babe, I’m leaving you
5.
It’s a long way from east Colorado To my home, boys, to my home This is the hammer that killed John Henry But it won’t kill me, no, it won’t kill me Well, John Henry, he left his hammer By the side of the road This old hammer is falling from my shoulder Steel’s going down When you hear my hammer a’ringing Steel run like lead Take this hammer and carry it to the Captain Tell him I’m gone, solid gone, baby
6.
Bill Reuben is a wee little man The doctors will catch him if they can When they do they’ll give him a tan Run, little Billy, run Run, little Billy Reuben, run, little Billy Reuben, run, little Billy Reuben Run, Billy, run Bill Reuben saw a sweet little girl Sweetest lil’ girl in the whole round World Stopped her ears with silent swirls Run, little Billy, run Bill Reuben saw a fine little lad Decided to be his dad One long hug drove the poor boy mad Run, little Billy, run You might think I’m being unfair that I’m biased beyond compare Well, you can call me jaundiced; I don’t care Run, little Billy, run
7.
If you don’t want to get in trouble You best let that liar alone Just let me tell you, people, what a liar will do He’s always coming with something new He’ll steal your heart with a false pretense And make out like he’s your bosom friend When a liar takes a notion to bend the truth He’ll lay around his neighbors just to get the news And nearly every day when you look out You can see that liar coming to your house He’ll tell you such a lie, surprise your mind He’ll mix a little truth for to make it shine And when he gets his business fixed just right Well, then that liar’s gonna cause a fight Well, he’ll study up a lie just to tell it so smooth You’ll think that it absolutely must be true And he’ll urge you out for to trace the tale And if you don’t mind you’ll be put in jail When everything else is in perfect peace Well, then comes that liar with his deceit A hypocrite, liar: both kick up a fuss They’re both very bad but a liar’s worse

O Susannah 02:33
I come from Alabama with a banjo on my knee I’m going to Louisiana, my true love for to see It rained all night the day I left; the weather, it was dry The sun so hot I froze to death; O Susanna, don’t you cry O Susanna, O don’t you cry for me For I come from Alabama with a banjo on my knee I had a dream the other night when everything was still I dreamed I saw my gal Susanna coming up the hill A red, red rose was in her hand; a tear was in her eye I said I’m coming from the south; O Susanna, don’t you cry O Susanna, O don’t you cry for me For I come from Alabama with a banjo on my knee Well, soon I’ll be in New Orleans and then I’ll look around And when I find my gal Susanne I’ll fall upon the ground But if I do not find her there then I will surely die And when I’m dead and buried, Lord, O Susanna don’t you cry O Susanna, O don’t you cry for me For I come from Alabama with a banjo on my knee

Reuben Train 03:40
O Reuben's coming down the track and he's got that throttle back and the wheels are a’carrying him from home If that boiler don't bust cause he’s eat up with rust I'll soon be a long way from my home If you don't believe I'm gone just look at the train I'm on You can hear that whistle blow a thousand miles I'm a’going down the track and I ain't never coming back and I'll never get no letter from my home Well, that train run so fast that I knew it couldn't last for them wheels was a’burning up the rails O Reuben had a wreck and it broke poor Reuben's neck but it never hurt one hair on my head Well, I'm walking up the track and I’m hoping I'll get back cause I'm a thousand miles from my home If I ever get back to you you can beat me black and blue for I'll never leave my shanty home

You get a line and I'll get a pole, Honey You get a line and I'll get a pole, Babe You get a line and I'll get a pole We'll go fishing down the crawdad hole Honey, Baby, mine. Well, I’m setting on the bank 'til my feet got cold, Honey Setting on the bank 'til my feet got cold, Babe Setting on the bank 'til my feet got cold catching all the crawdads in that hole Honey, Baby, mine Well, yonder comes a man with a sack on his back, Honey Yonder comes a man with a sack on his back, Babe Yonder comes a man with a sack on his back catching all the crawdads he can pack Honey, Baby, mine The man fell down and broke that sack, Honey Man fell down and broke that sack, Babe Man fell down and broke that sack See them crawdads backing on back Honey, Baby, mine What did the hen duck say to the drake, Honey? What did the hen duck say to the drake, Babe? What did the hen duck say to the drake? Said, “There ain't no crawdads in that lake!” Honey, Baby, mine

One bright and sunny morn when it was nice and warm I took my pony and we rode It sounds real nice, I know but the way that these things go riding on my pony is like a rodeo Cause he spits his bit at me and puffs up really fat, you see so that my saddle don’t fit tight My saddle it comes loose and drops me down on my caboose Right onto the cactuses, or should I say “cacti?” O no! I think I see a cliff! He’s gonna throw me off if I don’t keep my grip! When I offer sugar lumps he’ll bite my fingers down to stumps if I’m not careful with my hand If he eyes a low tree branch he’ll take off for it at a dash If I don’t watch myself, well, I’ll lose more than my hat I wear my gloves you know to hold on to the rope when he is dragging me behind and when we’re at a run o he stops short and off I’m flung I tell you sister, who says cowgirls can not fly? This ain’t no casual pony ride! O I’m just lucky, brother, if I come back alive! Maybe I’ll buy a Bay a Pinto, a Paint, or a Dapple Grey I hear that Clydesdales are real sweet Appaloosa, Arabian to ride out in the sun I’d ride a chicken cause this pony’s got me beat I’d ride a goldfish cause this pony’s got me beat This pony, he’s got me beat

Well, I met ol’ Satan through the door I hit him on the head with a two-by-four I’m gonna wear that starry crown over there! Over there! Over there! I’m gonna wear that starry crown over there! For I got no skillet, I got no lid Ashcakes taste like shortening bread I’m gonna wear that starry crown over there! Well, I met ol’ Satan down the lane I hit him on the head with a walking cane I’m gonna wear that starry crown over there! Well, I chased ol’ Satan ‘round a stump I gave him a kick for every jump I’m gonna wear that starry crown over there!
